Social Justice Events

Per the syllabus:

--> Sometime before May 1, you need to attend an event — on campus or off — that deals with any of the issues of diversity we have talked about in class.  There will be several events and activities taking place on our campus this semester including films, guest speakers and workshops.  After you attend the event, you will post a reflection paper on your blog describing the event, connecting it to 3 course texts we have read, and linking to 3 outside sources.  Include pictures if you can!  Think of this as an opportunity to teach the rest of us about your experience.

Some upcoming events to consider:

Vagina Monologues, Feb. 15 and 16

The Vagina Monologues is just one of many events held worldwide as part of V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. Don't miss this great performance on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 and 16., at 7 p.m., in Gaige Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for RIC Students, $10 for nonstudents and advance tickets are available in the Women's Center, Donovan lower level. This is sponsored by Feminists United, the RIC Women's Center and the RIC Gender and Women's Studies Program.

Black History Month (many events on campus and off)

Gender and Women's Studies Film Series
